Victory

There are times, when God can, but does not, vindicate you. He can rescue, but does not.

Sometimes he does. Sometimes he rescues -- Daniel in the lion's den, the 3 friends when they refused to worship the idol. But notice, they said "God is able to rescue us. But even if he does notwe will not bow down to your idol."

Jesus says -- "Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?" (Matthew 26:53-54)

Jesus had a choice. He chose to submit himself to the Scriptures, rather than call on His Father to save himself at the cost of obedience.

Hebrews 11

who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouth of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. Women received back their dead, raised to life again.

Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection. Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated. The world was not worthy of them.

These were all commended for their faith..

God's definition of victory looks different from the world's definition of victory.

Look at the cross.

2 Peter

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His footsteps:
“He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in His mouth.”
When they heaped abuse on Him,
He did not retaliate;
when He suffered, He made no threats,
but entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly.
He Himself bore our sins
in His body on the tree,
so that we might die to sin
and live to righteousness.

Sometimes God calls us to speak up, sometimes God calls us to be still and silent. Sometimes our heart test is, that when we are falsely accused and abused, we do not retaliate and entrust God, who judges justly.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Do not replay anyone evil for evil.
Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath. (Romans 12)
